Having provided modern spine treatment since
2002 to patients from the region - Island Hospital
unveiled in December 2006 the Spine Centre.

This next step in our evolution provides us with a
public image of our services -- all this while, we
have remained conceptual and are tangible only
through the results of our treatment. A physical
rendering allows us to have our own space,
environment and character -- all being values
which we will factor in toward taking even better
care of our patients.

A faculty of renowned spine surgeons graced the
opening ceremony and we hope that this --
instead of giving the atmosphere mere pomp
--actually serves as a mark that we are well on the
international stage.

Dr Oh read medicine at the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India link and has a Master degree in orthopaedic surgery from the
National Univ of Malaysia link. He received training in spine surgery at the Spine Unit, Hospital Kuala Lumpur link  and the Ruhr
Universitat Bochum, Germany link

Dr Chow Chong Chek graduated in medicine from Univ Malaya link and possesses the surgical Fellowship, Royal College of
Surgeons, Glasgow link United Kingdom. He trained in Hand Surgery & Microsurgery at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Chinese
University of Hong Kong link and in Arthroplasty / Artificial Joint Replacement Surgery at the Brigham Hospital, Boston, USA  link

Dr Hj Haniffah is a Univ Sains Malaysia  link medical graduate and is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physician, United Kingdom
link. He trained for his subspecialty at the Dept of Neurology, Glasgow University link, Scotland, United Kingdom and at the Institute of
Clinical Neurosciences, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, Australia link. He remains a Clinical Lecturer at the Penang Medical
College link, (Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland) in Penang.






Dr Francis Lau read medicine at the Universiti Malaya link and obtained his Master degree in Radiology from the National University
link of Malaysia. He holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists link, United Kingdom.


Dr S Sritharen graduated with BSc and MD at the National Univ of Malaysia link  and holds a Master degree in Surgery from the
National Univ of Singapore link besides a Fellowship, Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, link United Kingdom. He trained for
his subspecialty  at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia link
